WOYWW 213 no no no I'm sure its 212

Hi Peeps
Gosh where does the time go? It's that time again.... oh yes it is!
Time to peek at the work desks of the world .... so many inspirational people to visit.
I'm going to keep it short this week 1. because Julia says so (she's in charge of us all) and 2, because I'm tired and need to go to bed (this is written Tuesday night).
 So here's my desk;

Tuesday is Grandma day (I look after my GD ) today we got the Play Doh out.... so I played with my 'special' play doh and made some buttons while Erin made Winnie the Pooh and friends figures and dropped bits all over the floor!
On the left is a bag from a bundle of babybel cheese ... to be used for something fab in a few weeks time. ( a little teasing here!).
At first I thought there weren't any scissors (shock horror!) but no I was wrong they are hiding next to the strawberry ... you can just see the orange handles.. phew!

I baked them later and then stamped them with Archival Ink, later I will varnish them.
I don't know what I will use them on it was good just to play for a few minutes.

Last week I discovered a blog Gallo Organico with quite a challenge attached to it .... summertime-photography-scavenger hunt .
The idea is to  take photos from a list and then blog or share them with the other members of the challenge.
Here are a couple of pictures I took this week

No. 10 on the list is an outside bench.... rather an unusual one on the park where I live.

No.4 on the list .... an aeroplane. This is a half scale model of a spitfire, it is on a roundabout outside Southampton airport in Eastleigh where they tested the plane during the war.

Anyway that's all folks I'm off to bed very early for me.
If you leave me a comment I will visit you back later this evening after work... and dinner, well a girls gotta eat sometime! Please leave your Mr Linky no so I can find you quickly
see ya

summer scavenger hunt

Hi world
I have just discovered this site via Fiona staring at the sea
summertime-photography-scavenger.
The idea is to take photos from a list and post them over the summer.
It promises to be very interesting so I am going to give it a go.
Here is a photo I took the other day in a garden centre with my GD she loves turtles.
He was such a show off.
This is number 11 on the list, they don't have to be taken in order .... just when you see the right picture.

WOYWW 211 2nd attempt to follow instructions.... failed again

Hi Peeps
Don't know what happened to the rest of the week but it seems to be Wednesday again..... time to show off your crafty space again, so Julia at stamping-ground  says anyway..... so here it is
This week it's the dining room.

I am really into my sewing at the moment, so this week I have decided to make something for myself (gasp!) but true to form I am going to change the pattern slightly.
My chosen top looks a bit short and at my advanced age I don't think I will be showing off my belly button. Here's hoping I have done it right... let you know next week.

Also this week I started another lillybo quilt lillybo quilts. , but in true fairy thoughts style I did it back to front ( a theme is forming here, me thinks!)

I made some bunting for the Olympics last year, so I thought I would take it apart and re- use it as the quilt border (Mmm!) it didn't occur to me until I was sewing it together that I would have to make the middle fit the edge..... rather than the other way around, Doh! Watch this space.

I had some wonderful ATC's from the 4th anniversary swap, here they are in all their glory
Aren't they brilliant? thank you all :)

And because I am terrible lazy typist here are the backs so you can see who made them (actually the backs look pretty good too)

Finally here is a picture for Kyla li'l pidge check out why!
I noticed it at breakfast this morning, it is the dog toy (plastic newspaper) I use to encourage my Mutt to eat her dinner (long story).

Have a great week and I will catch up with you later after work, usual rules apply.
Please leave your linky number.

smile it's friday....anyone for coffee?

Happy Friday
Earlier in the week I joined 2 friends for coffee at a well know café in Winchester. You know who you are.
Well now, I don't think my friends would mind me saying they are both quite well 'rounded'.
When the coffee arrived I made a comment on the crockery.... to which both my friends laughed and  happily said THANK YOU!.
Here is a photo of the crockery and my comment

NICE JUGS!

If you still need more  smiles visit Annie over at  a stitch in time

WOYWW 210.. Homework; good intentions and my inability to follow instructions

Hi peeps,
Such an appropriate word for WOYWW followers.
If you are interested here's my desk, actually, it's  the kitchen table this week.

I'm making moulds
Last week   Shaz Silverwolf  posted about  making your own silicon moulds...... this stuff is seriously brilliant. It is very easy to make using simple ingredients. It worked very well..... I followed the instruction, Mmm  unusual for me.
If you are a regular visitor it won't surprise you to see I am using buttons.

Last week  Julia the head desk keeper  published a post about good intention, well I am always full of good intentions .......I always intend to do more crafting than I do and quicker, usually the reason I fail is my inability to follow instructions;
At the WOYWW crop we were all given a challenge to make a simple card, instructions were included. It should have taken about 15 minutes, it didn't........ I didn't follow the instruction did I?
I was going to include the raffle tickets too but didn't find them until after I finished it.

On Saturday I intended to make GD Erin a  sundress dress. I figured I would have it finished by lunch time, after all it was a simple pattern and it was all cut out and the machine was ready to go.... I am a reasonably experienced sewer.
Well I decided to change the straps, add some buttons and change the way the lining was finished and .... generally ignore the instructions.
Well needless to say, things didn't go quite to plan I finally finished it at about 8.00pm.
I think there is a moral there somewhere! Maybe next time .... but I doubt it.
It is cute though

Have a great snoop at all the lovely desks around the world.
If you leave a comment I'll visit you back.... usual rules apply.

P.S A big thank you to all who send me lovely ATC's I intended to show them this week ... but well good intentions and all that... they are temporarily hidden on my desk ... under stuff!

WOYWW the saturday edition

Hi Peeps
well in case you didn't know  there was a WOYWW crop at the weekend..... sorry..... you  have  probably read enough  about it already, so I will keep it brief.
It was a brilliant day full of fun, food, laughter, chat and great friends, oh and we did a bit of crafting as well. 3 cheers for JULIA     and LLJ   LUNCH LADY JAN   who organised it all.

We also swapped ATC's for the 4th anniversary; here is my bunch aren't they brilliant?
thank you everyone.

I made a gelli plate thanks to  shaz in oz.  who posted a recipe last week

It was really easy and cheap to make

I printed quite a few papers this is one of my favourites.

We all had  a goodie bag to take home, complete with  a lovely fabric tissue holder made by LLJ  (now kept in my handbag)  and a......  button challenge.......

The biggest challenge was to not eat them before I got home.... Opps ! I failed that one hehe

Finally here is  this Wednesday's  desk.
I am decopatch-ing a picture frame for a display at work, well someone has to do it  :)

I will try and visit everyone who comments this week, sorry if I didn't get to everyone last week it was very busy.
Janet
PS sorry I forgot the cake recipe I will do it next week :)
many of you wanted the  recipe NOW so here it is

Angel Food Cake

4 oz plain flour

13 oz castor sugar

12 egg whites

1 ½ teaspoon cream of tartare

3-4 drops vanilla and almond ess.

½ teaspoon  salt

You will need an Angel food cake pan or a large non stick tin with a whole in the middle (savarin tin).

Sift flour and half the sugar 3 times onto greaseproof paper and set aside.

Whisk the egg whites, salt and C of T until thick.... like meringue.

Add the essence and the rest of the sugar a tbl spoon at a time until it forms stiff peaks.

Carefully FOLD in the flour and sugar... I use a large balloon whisk (slowly fold .. do not whisk), pour into the tin and bake in a preheated oven gas 5 for 35-40 mins.

When cooked turn the tin upside down with a bottle in the central hole. Leave until completely cold.

Serve with cream/ fruit / fresh lemon curd or chocolate.

ENJOY!
